DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 2000Z January 12, 2020
Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge, Texas... Multiple fires observed at the southern portion of the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge located east of Galveston Bay, Texas. The fires were emitting light density smoke plumes that were moving northwest. South-central Florida... Light density smoke was visible moving north-northwest from fires located south of Lake Okeechobee prior to afternoon cloud cover obscuring visibility. Cuba... Multiple fires observed along the southwestern side of Cuba were producing plumes of light density smoke extending westward offshore. Bay of Campeche/Northeastern Mexico... Intermittent plumes of light density smoke were observed moving northward from scattered fire activity over northeastern Mexico. An additional area of light density smoke was observed moving northwest from the rigs in the Bay of Campeche into the Gulf of Mexico. Levine THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
