DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: South Central and Southeastern U.S… Widespread seasonal fire activity over South Central and Southeastern U.S. was responsible for a number of mainly thin to locally moderate density smoke plumes. The most widespread smoke was associated with the fires over northwestern Florida. The varying density smoke from these fires spread to the southeast and off Gulf Coast. Cuba… Fires throughout the island were observed producing light density smoke, particularly in the western and central portions of the island, moving SSW into the Caribbean Sea. YL THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
