DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

Mexico/Western Gulf of Mexico/Bay of Campeche… Widespread fire activity and gas flaring in the Bay of Campeche and along the Mexican shore of the Bay of Campeche was observed emitting smoke. The smoke, which is mostly light in nature with only a few moderate smoke plumes, was moving off toward the northwest. Gas flaring smoke was extending over 400 miles to the northwest. Cuba… About a dozen smoke plumes were seen across Cuba this afternoon. Much of the light to moderate density smoke was moving off toward the west with one or two moving towards the north or north-northwest. Florida… About a dozen smoke plumes were observed this morning across Florida. Light smoke was seen moving north-northwest in south Florida while light to moderate density smoke from fires in north Florida was moving northeastward. Hosley THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
