DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1900Z February 25, 2020
SMOKE: Hawaii… Thin smoke continued to be observed spreading to the west-southwest from the large fire in the western portion of Kaho’olawe Island. Eastern Mexico/Southern Texas/Western Gulf of Mexico… Continued agricultural burning and gas flaring activities in throughout the Mexican states of Veracruz and Tabasco were emitting smoke with a sizable area of visible thin density smoke across far eastern Mexico and over the western Gulf of Mexico. Separate oil rig plumes in the Bay of Campeche could be seen moving off to the north-northwest and northeast. Cuba/South Florida… Fires throughout northern Cuba and south Florida were observed emitting light to moderate density smoke. The smoke from these fires was generally moving nortn. Hosley THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
