DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1745Z March 5, 2020
SMOKE: Florida… Multiple agricultural fires were observed just south of Lake Okeechobee with light-density smoke plumes dispersing towards the northeast. Cuba… Scattered fire activity was seen across central Cuba with a few light-density smoke plumes visible. Fires on the south side of the island had their smoke dispersing towards the west whereas fires on the north side of the island showed smoke moving towards the north. WS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
