DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1750Z March 12, 2020
SMOKE: Florida… A number of agricultural fires were observed south of Lake Okeechobee with light-density smoke plumes dispersing towards the southwest. North and South Carolina… Scattered fire activity likely associated with prescribed burning could be seen across southeastern North Carolina and northeastern South Carolina. Smoke plumes were predominantly moving towards the east. Mexico… Numerous short-lived fires were observed across western Veracruz state, with small light-density smoke plumes dispersing towards the north. Additionally, a cluster of fire activity could also be seen central Chiapas state with smoke plumes heading towards the northwest. WS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
