DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southeastern U.S… Similar to yesterday, widespread cloudiness over portions of the U.S. greatly limited smoke and fire detection in satellite imagery though a few mainly thin density plumes were visible with seasonal fire activity in the Southeastern U.S. Mexico/Central America/Cuba… Significant seasonal fire activity in Cuba resulted in numerous smoke plumes with some of them merging to form larger areas of thin density smoke which spread to the southwest and off the southern coast. Scattered seasonal burning especially in southern Mexico and Central America produced some visible smoke in that region. JS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
