SMOKE: Eastern Kansas… Several small, prescribed fires in eastern Kansas and northeastern Oklahoma are generating thin density smoke plumes moving rapidly to the east into far western Arkansas. Mexico/Gulf of Mexico… Numerous fires throughout central Mexico and the Yucatan Peninsula are collectively producing a large area of thin density remnant smoke covering the western Gulf of Mexico. This morning the smoke continues to be transported to the northwest towards Texas. Cuba/Gulf of Mexico… Widespread fire activity continues to dominate the entire island, with fires being more sparse this morning compared to yesterday evening. Thin density remnant smoke is observed moving off of the northwest portion of the country into the central and eastern parts of the Gulf of Mexico.
