DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southeastern U.S... Scattered small light density areas associated with agricultural burns are observed over parts of South Carolina, Georgia, and Mississippi. Kansas/Nebraska... A few small light density plumes are found over eastern Kansas moving to the north-northeast. Larger light density plumes are detected over central Nebraska spreading northeast. Cuba... Scattered small light density plumes are found across much of the country, with a larger light density plume over western tip spreading to the west. A large light density area is located just off the southern coast from the central to eastern part of the region. Mexico... Several small light density and a few moderate density plumes are detected over the south-central part of the country. Over the Yucatan, numerous small light density plumes exist spreading to the northwest. A large light density plume from the previous day fires is found over the Bay of Campeche moving to the north. Konon THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
