SMOKE: Southern Mexico/Guatemala/Honduras/Gulf of Mexico... Widespread fire activity remains active across Honduras and the Mexican states of Campeche and Yucatan in the northern and western Yucatan Peninsula with further, although less dense, fire activity throughout the rest of southern Mexico and Guatemala. A large area of remnant smoke extends from Honduras and Guatemala northwest into the western Gulf Coast, where interaction with a frontal system is shunting the smoke off towards the east over the central Gulf Coast. Much of the smoke is light, but one area of moderate smoke resides over the western Gulf of Mexico and a very dense region of remnant smoke moved northwest from Honduras over extreme western portions of the Caribbean Sea, Belize, and the Mexican state of Quintana Roo in the Yucatan Peninsula by 18Z. Cuba... Seasonal fire activity throughout the island nation of Cuba was producing mainly light smoke that was moving off toward the west-northwest.
