DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Mexico/Central America... A widespread moderately dense plume covers much of southeastern Mexico, Belize, Guatemala, and Honduras. This plume spreads north and northeastward of the Bay of Campeche and central Gulf of Mexico. A more concentrated heavy plume is located over northern Honduras. A thin density plume from the Mexico and Central America fires is detected over the eastern Gulf of Mexico to northern Florida into the Atlantic just east of the Georgia coast. BK THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
