DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1700Z April 22, 2020

SMOKE:
Southern and Eastern Mexico/Central America/Gulf of Mexico/Eastern
Pacific/Southwestern Caribbean Sea/South Texas...
A large region of moderate to thick density smoke was observed from
widespread fire activity over most of Southern Mexico and parts
of Central America including the Yucatan Peninsula, Guatemala, and
Honduras. Moderate to thick density smoke was observed North of Honduras
over the Southwestern Caribbean Sea. Light density smoke was also observed
South of Mexico over the Eastern Pacific Ocean. A large region of light
to moderate density smoke was observed over the Western Gulf of Mexico
as well as Coastal Eastern Mexico and parts of South Texas. The large
region of smoke is continuing to progress Northward this morning ahead
of a weather system.

Cuba...
Seasonal fire activity was observed this morning across parts of Cuba
with moderate to thick density smoke observed from several fires and
light density smoke observed from the fire activity as well. Light
density smoke was observed over Central Cuba and to the Northeast of
Cuba Southwest of the Bahamas over the Atlantic Ocean this morning.

THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF
SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED
FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE.
TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS.  AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE
ALSO DESCRIBED.  USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE
AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE
FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE:
