DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0230Z April 23, 2020
SMOKE: Northern Plains... Several light density plumes are found across western Minnesota, eastern North/South Dakota, and central Nebraska. A couple of moderate density plumes embedded in the light density plumes are over northwestern Minnesota. Plume movement is irregular over eastern North Dakota and northwestern Minnesota with movement to the south-southeast over eastern South Dakota and southwestern Minnesota, and more southward over central Nebraska. Cuba... Several light density plumes are moving to the east-northeast along the north-central and northeastern coast of the country, while a couple of light density plumes are spreading east-southeast along the southeastern coast. Mexico/Central America... Extensive agricultural burning continues over the area with a large light density plume covering Honduras, Guatemala, Belize, far southeastern Mexico, the Bay of Campeche, and southeastern Texas. A moderate density plume covers a large part of the Bay of Campeche with a heavy density plume over far southeastern Mexico, Guatemala, and Honduras. All of these plumes are moving westward initially from their source fires and turn more northwest once at the Bay of Campeche. Konon THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
