DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Minnesota/North Dakota... A few small light density plumes moving to the south and southwest are found over northwestern Minnesota and southeastern South Dakota. California... A couple of light density plumes over the northern part of the state are spreading southeastward. One fire southwest of Highland Springs has emitted a moderate density plume. Cuba... Several small light density plumes are moving to the north-northeast from numerous agricultural burns across the country. Gulf of Mexico/Mexico/Central America... Widespread agricultural burning continues to produce large plumes across the area. A light density plume covers a large part of the Gulf of Mexico, southern Texas, the Bay of Campeche, far southeastern Mexico, and the northwest part of Central America. A moderate density plume is found over the Bay of Campeche, the Yucatan, Belize, Guatemala, and Honduras. A heavy density plume also covers the Yucatan and Belize, and northern Guatemala/Honduras. Konon THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
