DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Central Plains… Numerous agricultural fires were observed extending from Texas north through Kansas and Nebraska. Light density smoke was observed between breaks in the clouds and was moving primarily southeastward. Gulf of Mexico/Mexico/Northern Central America... Widespread agricultural burning continues to impact air quality across the entire region, with the exception of Northern Mexico. Moderate-to-heavy density smoke covers central-western Honduras and most of Guatemala, Belize and the Yucatan Peninsula, while being pulled northeastward in the direction of southern Florida. Light-to-moderate density smoke extends to the west over the southwestern coastline of Mexico, and to the north and east covering most of Gulf of Mexico. Light density smoke can be seen reaching parts of southern Texas and the Mississippi Delta. JL THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
