DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Southeast US... Light density plumes from agricultural fires are found over South Carolina, southern Georgia and Alabama, and over northern and central Florida. The plumes are moving west-northwest over Florida turning northward over Georgia and Alabama, and northeastward over South Carolina. Montana... A cluster of fires about 30-60 miles of Great Falls are producing light density plumes moving off to the east-northeast. California... Several light density plumes spreading to the southeast are located over the San Joaquin Valley. Cuba... Several light density plumes spreading east-southeast are found over the eastern part of the country. Gulf of Mexico/Mexico/Northern Central America... A large number of fires continue to burn over Mexico and Central America and are producing a large area of light to moderate density smoke that extends over most of the Gulf of Mexico from western Florida into portions of southern and eastern Mexico, northern Central America, and into the eastern Pacific Ocean. Within this larger area of smoke, exceptionally dense smoke extends over central Mexico into southern Mexico, Central America, and the southern Gulf of Mexico. Konon THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
