DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1600Z MAY 24, 2020
SMOKE: Mexico... Numerous seasonal fires were seen this morning along western-southwestern Mexico, and in the states of Chiapas and Campeche in south-southeastern Mexico. Stagnant light-density smoke remains visible across those regions, extending over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico and over the Pacific waters off the southern Mexico coastline. Areas of similarly stagnant moderate-density smoke cover western Guerrero, Veracruz, and central Chiapas. WS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
