SMOKE: Mexico/Western Gulf of Mexico/Central America… Fire activity remains widespread across western, southern, and eastern Mexico into Belize, Guatemala, and Honduras. The resulting area of smoke produced by this fire activity from the past few days expands from near southern Texas into El Salvador and across the Yucatan Peninsula. Heavy density smoke was observed along the coast in eastern Mexico and leading into the Bay of Campeche. Additional areas of medium density smoke expanded farther into the Gulf of Mexico and along the Mexican coast and light density smoke covered the majority of the Gulf, southern Mexico, Central America and eastern Mexico into the southernmost tip of Texas. Isolated plumes of light to moderate density smoke were observed on the western coast of Mexico as well. California… A fire just east of Interstate 5 near Stockton was observed producing a large area black smoke moving soutwest of the fire activity.
