DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1730Z MAY 27, 2020
SMOKE: Gulf of Mexico/Mexico/Central America… Smoke detection this morning from the ongoing significant amount of seasonal burning occurring in portions of Mexico and Central America was hindered somewhat due to patchy cloud cover across the region. In general, an area of thin density smoke was present over the Bay of Campeche and the southern Gulf of Mexico, as well as southern and eastern Mexico. A smaller batch of moderately dense to locally thick smoke was visible within this larger area of thin density smoke mainly over southern Mexico to the south of Mexico City and extending to the coast around Acapulco. North Dakota/Southern Manitoba… A few primarily thin density smoke plumes were seen moving to the east from seasonal type fires in eastern North Dakota and far southern Manitoba. JS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE.
