DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0200Z June 1, 2020
SMOKE: Northern Plains and South Central Canada... Agricultural burning was observed this evening in North/Eastern North Dakota as well as in Northwestern Minnesota and Southern Manitoba. Light density smoke was observed from the agricultural burning activity that is progressing North-Northwestward this evening. Southwestern Mexico... Widespread fire activity was observed this evening across most of Coastal Western/Southwestern Mexico. Moderate to thick density smoke was observed further from the fire activity progressing out over portions of the Eastern Pacific Ocean with light density smoke further from the fire activity present over the region and further west out over the Eastern Pacific Ocean. Western Alaska... A large complex fire was observed to the Northeast of Newtok,Alaska with moderate to thick density smoke present over portions of Western Alaska. Moderate to thick density smoke was observed progressing Westward towards the Pacific Ocean this evening. Arizona... A large complex fire was observed approximately 8 miles to the Northeast of Gold Canyon, Arizona. Moderate to thick density smoke was observed in the vicinity of the fire with light density smoke further from the fire observed as well. The smoke from the fire complex is progressing North-Northeastward this evening. California.. A small complex fire was observed on the Eastern part of Santa Cruz Island, California. Moderate to thick density smoke was observed with light density smoke further from the fire observed as well. The smoke from the fire complex is progressing Eastward over the Pacific Ocean this evening. Washington State.. A large complex fire was observed in Edna, Washington with moderate to thick density smoke observed as well as light density smoke observed further from the fire activity. The smoke from the fire activity is progressing Northeastward this evening. Sambucci THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
