DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Arizona/New Mexico/Colorado... A number of wildfires with large light to heavy density plumes quickly moving off to the northeast are occurring over eastern Arizona, parts of New Mexico, and southeastern Colorado. Alaska... A cluster of wildfires producing a light to moderate density plume moving to the south-southeast is found over the far southwestern part of the state in the Yukon Delta National Wildlife Refuge. Another cluster of wildfires between Stevens Village and Rampart in the center of the state is producing a light to moderate density plume that is moving to the northwest. Mexico... An area of mostly light smoke, from the large number of fires over the western part of the country in the last few days, extends along the southwestern Pacific coast northwest to just east of Baja. Several light density narrow plumes moving to the northeast are found over the southwest part of the state of Chihuahua. Konon THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
