DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1550Z June 26, 2020
SMOKE: Southern Plains and Southwestern US…. An area of light density smoke, from the ongoing fires over New Mexico and Arizona, was extending from portions of western Kansas southwest into portions of New Mexico. DUST: Gulf of Mexico and Gulf Coast States from Florida west to Southeast Texas….The leading edge of the large area of Saharan Dust had pushed off portions of the Southeast US coast. It then extended west through portions of northern Florida, southern Georgia, southern Alabama, southern Mississippi, southern Louisiana and southeast Texas and then south through the western Gulf of Mexico. Another large area of Saharan Dust was entering the eastern Caribbean and had overspread the islands as far west as Puerto Rico. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
