DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1630Z July 4, 2020
SMOKE: Southwestern New Mexico: Light to moderate density smoke was seen being emitted by two wildfires (Cub and Vics Peak) in southwestern New Mexico. The smoke from these fires was generally moving off towards the east. Northern Idaho/Far Northwest Montana/South Central Canada: An area of very thin density smoke attributed mainly to wildfires burning in Siberia was seen this morning/early afternoon in GOES-W/E imagery. The thin density smoke was seen over southern Alberta and southwest Saskatchewan. Kibler THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
