DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Northern Plains through Central and Northern Rockies to Nevada…. A large area of smoke, from ongoing wildfires over Nevada, was extending from the Northern Plains southwest through the Central and Northern Rockies and into Nevada. Within this plume areas of moderate to localized high density smoke was seen extending from southeast western Minnesota southwest to southeast Wyoming and also near the fires. DUST: Gulf of Mexico to Florida…. An area of Saharan Dust was seen extending from portions of southern Florida and extending west through most of the Gulf of Mexico. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
