DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Baja California... A couple of fires in northern Baja California were producing moderate-density smoke impacting an area southeast of Ensenada of approximately 50 miles across. Variable winds resulted in mostly stagnant smoke. DUST: Nevada... Blowing dust could be seen originating from Black Rock desert in Humboldt County, northwestern Nevada. The dust was being transported towards the northeast in the direction of Cordero, Platora and Paradise Valley. Caribbean Sea…. An area of thin Saharan dust is seen over the southwestern Caribbean sea, while another surge of Saharan dust traveling westward across the tropical Atlantic is expected to reach the eastern Caribbean islands in the next 24h bringing a moderate concentration dust cloud. WS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
