THROUGH 1501Z July 23, 2020
SMOKE: NE California, U.S. ... Four clusters of wildfires in the NE corner of California have been emitting light to medium density smoke towards the E-NE into Oregon and Nevada. There was cloud coverage in the area so smoke was not completely visible. Montana, U.S. ... One wildfire located in the SE corner of Montana. Due to cloud coverage, there was very little light density smoke visible. Nevada, U.S. ... Remnant light density smoke visible throughout Nevada which was moving towards the NW in California and NE into Idaho. DUST: Saharan dust remains well to the east of the analysis region observed earlier in the day off the West coast of Africa and as far east out over the Central subtropical Atlantic Ocean in satellite imagery. Rodriguez THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED. USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE: JPEG: http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/currenthms.jpg GIS: ftp://satpsanone.nesdis.noaa.gov/FIRE/HMS/GIS/ KML: http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/fire.kml (fire) http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/data/land/fire/smoke.kml (smoke) ANY QUESTIONS OR COMMENTS REGARDING THIS PRODUCT SHOULD BE SENT TO: SSDFireTeam@noaa.gov
