SMOKE: Western United States, Northern Mexico, western Gulf of Mexico, and Northwestern Atlantic Ocean…. Despite of some reduction in wildfire emissions over the western U.S. in the last several hours, a large area of predominantly stagnant smoke continues to affect most of the U.S. west of the Great Plains, and extending into Baja California, northern Mexico and the western Gulf of Mexico. Moderate-to-heavy smoke is seen along central-northern California, western Nevada, and southern Idaho and western Montana, in addition to moderate smoke over southwestern Kansas and northwestern Oklahoma. A second large plume which got separated from the main plume above could be seen traveling eastward approximately 500 miles off the coast of New England.
