DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1550Z September 27, 2020
SMOKE: Western United States to the Southern Plains and Southeastern United States and then extending northeast to the Northeast United States, Southeastern Canada and then offshore into the North Atlantic Ocean…. Smoke from the wildfires over the western United States continues to be seen over a large portion of the United States extending from California through the southwestern US, the Southern Plains to the Southeastern United States and then northeast through the Northeastern United States, southeastern Canada and into the North Atlantic Ocean. An area of moderate density smoke was seen within this area of smoke over the Upper Midwest northeast through northern New England. Further to the west closer to the ongoing fires, localized moderate to high density smoke was also seen over southeastern Wyoming and northeastern Colorado extending into western Nebraska and also near the active wildfires over California. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
