DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1730Z October 13, 2020
SMOKE: U.S., Eastern Pacific, Eastern Canada/Maine/Canadian Maritimes, Western Atlantic, and northern Mexico. While smoke remains over portions of North America it is much less then we have observed over the last month. Smoke from primarily the ongoing central California wildfires has produced small bands of high density smoke in central California, and southeastern Nevada that extends into Southwestern Utah just edging into the northeastern Arizona. Surrounding these band is a larger area of Medium density smoke extending from central California, through southern Nevada and extends into Southwestern Utah, and northeastern Arizona. An area of light density smoke extends from northern to southern California, through the southern U.S., northern Mexico, northern Gulf of Mexico, and through northern Florida edging into the western Atlantic Ocean of the northern coast of Florida. Another small band of light smoke can be seen extending into the Pacific Ocean off the coast of southern California. A large storm system remains over most of the northwestern U.S. and southwestern Canada obscuring much of the wildfire activity that has been visible in that area. Eastern Canada/Maine/Canadian Maritimes… A large batch of mainly thin density smoke leftover from the Western U.S. wildfires was seen over Hudson Bay, a good part of Quebec, northern Maine, and extending over the Canadian Maritimes and off the coast over the far western Atlantic.
