DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0030Z December 8, 2020
SMOKE: ArkLaTex… About half a dozen mainly light smoke plumes from presumably agricultural burning across the Texas Gulf Coast, eastern Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas were observed moving off toward the south or south-southeast this afternoon and evening. The most prolific smoke producer, one along the Texas Gulf Coast near the Louisiana border, was producing notably thicker smoke than any other smoke plume. Northern Plains/Prairie Provinces… A few light smoke plumes were noted across North Dakota this afternoon and evening. The presence of upper-level cloud cover obscured observation of smoke into southern Manitoba and southeastern Saskatchewan, but given the amount of burning activity noted, it is likely at least some smoke exists that was not observed and analyzed. -Hosley THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE.
