DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: California… In southern California a medium sized light density smoke plume with the exception of area of moderate density smoke near the source which is attributed to seasonal burning was observed with the smoke moving in an southerly direction. Earlier today, Southern Florida... Agricultural burning activity was observed around Southeastern and Eastern regions of the Lake Okeechobee area in South Florida. Light density smoke was observed from most of the agricultural fires progressing to the Northwest in this morning’s GOES visible satellite imagery. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
