DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: California, Nevada... In Central California two light to moderate density smoke plumes attributed to to wildfires were observed moving in a northerly direction with one of the plumes crossing into western Nevada. Arizona... In Central Arizona two light to heavy density smoke plumes attributed to to wildfires were observed moving in a northeasterly direction Central U.S., Kansas, Missouri... Across the Central U.S. widespread agricultural burning was causing a large number of light to moderate density smoke plumes primarily on Kansas and Missouri. The majority of the smoke was observed moving in a southeasterly direction. Hispaniola... On the southern coast of Central Hispaniola a light to heavy density smoke plume attributed to wildfires was observed moving west in direction. DUST: Atlantic Ocean... An area of Saharan dust was observed across the eastern part of the tropical Atlantic. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
