DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0100Z March 3, 2021
SMOKE: Central Plains… Numerous light to moderate smoke plumes were observed emanating from agricultural burns from northern Texas into far southwestern Iowa. Smoke from these burns was moving off toward the northeast or east-northeast. Central Arizona… A single fire in central Arizona was producing moderate to thick smoke that was moving north across northern Arizona. South Dakota… Light smoke from a single fire near the ND/SD border was observed moving across South Dakota throughout the day. Western Mexico… Scattered light smoke plumes were observed from Chihuahua to Colima. The smoke from these fires was generally moving off toward the east-northeast. From this morning and continuing this afternoon: DUST: Atlantic Ocean... An area of Saharan dust was observed across the far eastern part of the tropical Atlantic. Hosley THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
