DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Central and Eastern United States…. An area of remnant light density smoke from the large number of fires over portions of the Central, South Central, and Southeastern U.S. yesterday was seen extending from portions of eastern Texas through the Mississippi Valley ending in the north around southern Indiana and central Kentucky. South Mexico/ Eastern Pacific South of Mexico… A rather large area of thin density smoke attributed to seasonal fires, gas flaring activity, as well as urban pollution and aerosols covers the southern coast of Mexico and extends over portions of the Eastern Pacific South of Mexico. DUST: Pacific Northwest…. An area of dust from portions of Asia was seen pushing into portions of the northeastern Pacific. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
