DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1710Z March 12, 2021
SMOKE: Mid-Atlantic/Southeast U.S... A large area of remnant light density smoke from the previous day’s widespread seasonal fires covered portions of eastern Alabama and Georgia in the southwest extending northeast through Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and southern Virginia extending out approximately 600 miles over the Atlantic Ocean. Southern Florida... In Southern Florida two light density smoke plumes attributed to to seasonal fires were observed moving in a westerly direction. Mexico and Western Gulf of Mexico/Eastern Pacific Ocean... A large region of light density smoke was observed over most of Coastal Eastern Mexico and out over parts of the Western Gulf of Mexico. Light density smoke was also observed over parts of Southern Mexico and the Eastern Pacific Ocean. The plumes appears to consist of smoke from seasonal fires in the region, in addition to gas flaring activity in the Bay of Campeche as well as isolated urban pollution/aerosols. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
