DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1430Z April 15, 2021
SMOKE: Gulf of Mexico and Central and Southern Mexico…. A large area of mostly light density smoke, from fires over Mexico and Central America, was extending from just west of Florida through the Gulf of Mexico, Central and Southern Mexico and into the eastern Pacific Ocean just offshore Mexico. An area of moderate density smoke was located just off the east coast of Mexico and extended northeast to just southeast of southern Texas. DUST: An area of Saharan Dust was seen extending through the Tropical Atlantic Ocean to the southeastern Caribbean Islands. Hanna THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
