DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1630Z April 25, 2021
SMOKE: Far southern Texas/Florida/Gulf of Mexico/Bay of Campeche/Mexico/Central America/Pacific south of Mexico/Cuba/Bahamas… The very large area of mainly thin to moderately dense smoke from the ongoing seasonal fires occurring in Mexico, Central America, and Cuba was seen this morning over central, southern, and eastern Mexico, the northwestern part of Central America, a portion of the Pacific south of Mexico and Central America, the Bay of Campeche, much of the Gulf of Mexico, far southern Texas, the Florida peninsula, western Cuba, and the northern Bahamas. Embedded thick patches of smoke were visible especially in the vicinity of some of the larger fires in Mexico. Unknown Aerosol… Western Canada/Southeastern Alaska... An unknown very thin density aerosol of origin and composition was visible early this morning stretching from the central portions of Saskatchewan westward over central Alberta and central British Columbia. The aerosol then became thicker in density and became more northwest to southeast oriented as it spread to the west and southwest off the west coast of British Columbia and southeastern Alaska. JS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
