DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1700Z May 2, 2021
SMOKE: Southern California/Southwestern Arizona/Northwestern Mexico… Remnant thin density smoke from a couple of fire complexes located midway between San Diego and the Salton Sea in far southern California was visible this morning moving to the east across far southeastern California, southwestern Arizona, and northwestern Mexico. Mexico/Central America/Pacific south of Mexico/Bay of Campeche/Gulf of Mexico… A large area of thin to moderate density smoke from the ongoing significant amount of seasonal fire activity occurring in Mexico and Central America was seen over portions of eastern and southern Mexico northwestern Central America, a relatively small portion of the Pacific south of Mexico, the Bay of Campeche, and the southwestern Gulf of Mexico. Embedded thicker patches of smoke were visible especially over southern Mexico. JS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
