SMOKE: Central and Western Gulf of Mexico/Central and Southern Mexico/Guatemala/El Salvador/Honduras... A large area of predominantly stagnant smoke currently covers the western half of the Gulf of Mexico, the majority of Mexico with the exception of the northwestern states, Guatemala, El Salvador and northwestern Honduras. Areas of moderate smoke concentration are found across southern Gulf of Mexico and the coastal areas along the Bay of Campeche, as well as across the Yucatan Peninsula, and the Gulf of Honduras. The smoke is largely associated seasonal fires in Mexico and Central America, as those continue to show in great numbers across the entire region. Florida... Multiple agricultural fires were observed just south of Lake Okeechobee with small and short-lived light density smoke dispersing toward the north across the lake area.
