DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Florida/Atlantic... A large, long plume of light density, likely left over from wildfires in Canada last week, was detected from southern Florida, across the Bahamas, and out into the open Atlantic to about 600 miles east-southeast of Bermuda. Within this light density plume, a moderate density area was found extending from near southeastern Florida coast eastward to a few hundred miles east of the Bahamas. Mexico... A large, light density plume from continued extensive agricultural burns was located over north-central Mexico extending south-southeastward to the southern and southeast Pacific coastal Mexico. Along parts of the southern and southwestern Pacific coast of Mexico, a moderate density plume was detected. DUST: Caribbean... An light density area of Saharan Dust was detected over the eastern and central part of the Caribbean Sea. Konon THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
