DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1740Z May 25, 2021
SMOKE: Gulf of Mexico/Florida/Atlantic... A long, narrow light-density plume with a few patches of moderate-density was detected over the eastern Gulf of Mexico, southern Florida, the Bahamas, and into the open Atlantic out to several hundred miles north of the Lesser Antilles. This smoke plume is left over from Canada wildfires last week. Mexico... A large thin-density plume covered most of northern and central Mexico and extends west-southwest offshore into the Pacific for several hundred miles. A patch of moderate-density smoke was detected along the southwest Pacific coast of the country. These plumes are associated with continued widespread seasonal agricultural burns. DUST: Caribbean A thin plume of Saharan dust covers most of the Caribbean Sea. Konon THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
