DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1700Z May 29, 2021
SMOKE: CONUS East Coast and western North Atlantic… A large area of remnant smoke still exists over and off the southeastern and Mid-Atlantic coasts and extends eastward into the Atlantic ahead of a frontal system. Mexico/S Texas/Western Gulf of Mexico/Gulf of Campeche/Pacific Ocean… Continued light remnant smoke from fire activity along the coastal plain of eastern Mexico and along western Mexico is still seen over both the eastern and western shores of Mexico. Smoke is being drawn westward out into the Pacific from western Mexico. Another area of light smoke was observed between Belize and Honduras, which moved ashore along the southern Yucatan Peninsula. Manitoba… Wildfire activity in central Manitoba has begun to emit smoke once again. The light to moderate smoke was observed moving off toward the northeast. Arizona/New Mexico… Fires along the eastern edge of the Mogollon Rim were observed emitting smoke this afternoon. The smoke was initially moving west before moving northeast just after sunrise. Hosley THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
