DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1630Z June 2, 2021
SMOKE: Northern Central U.S and Southern Canada... A large region of light density smoke was observed over most of the North Central United States as well as over parts of Southern Canada. Light density smoke was observed over parts of North Dakota, South Dakota, Eastern Nebraska, Northeastern Kansas, most of Minnesota, most of Iowa, Northern Missouri, Southern Wisconsin, Northern Illinois, most of Lower Michigan as well as over parts of Southern Canada including Southeastern Saskatchewan, Southern Manitoba, and Southern Ontario in early morning GOES visible satellite imagery. Southwestern New Mexico... Moderate to thick density smoke was observed in the vicinity of the Johnson fire complex progressing eastward in recent GOES visible satellite imagery. Southern/Western Mexico, Southern Gulf of California, Southwestern Gulf of Mexico and Eastern Pacific Ocean... A large region of light density smoke and several smaller regions of moderate to thick density smoke were observed over parts of coastal Western Mexico. Light density smoke was observed over Western Mexico as well as out over the Southern Gulf of California and parts of the Eastern Pacific Ocean. Light density smoke was also observed over most of the Mexican state of Veracruz, parts of the Southwestern Gulf of Mexico, Western Tabasco, Southern Chiapas, Southern Oaxaca, and the Gulf of Tehuantepec in recent GOES visible satellite imagery. Sambucci THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
