DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0141 June 11, 2021
SMOKE: Arizona, Western New Mexico, Utah, Central/North-Central/South-Central U.S., South-Central Canada, Mexico, Pacific south of Mexico... Wildfire complexes in Southeastern Arizona, western New Mexico, and Utah continue to emit light to moderate density smoke that blankets much of the North-Central to south-Central U.S. and a potion of the south-Central Canada. This smoke has combined with the ongoing seasonal fires in Mexico. A large area of light to moderate density smoke is covering much of northern Mexico and a portion of the Pacific south of Mexico. Utah... In northern and eastern Utah two light to heavy density smoke plumes attributed to wildfires were moderate moving northeast into southern Montana in the north and Colorado in the east. Ontario... In central Ontario several light to moderate density smoke plumes attributed to wildfires were observed moving east. DUST: Tropical Atlantic Ocean to the southeastern Caribbean Islands… Thick Saharan Dust was observed extending from Africa across the tropical Atlantic Ocean across the Lesser Antilles and into the eastern half of the Caribbean Sea. This Saharan Dust Layer was moving westward across the Caribbean. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
