DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1700Z July 27, 2021
SMOKE: Canada, United States, and Western Atlantic... An expansive region of varying density smoke exists from southeastern Alaska and northern California to the North Atlantic. The heaviest smoke resides across southern BC, southern AB, NW CA and northern NV, and across ON. The persistent wildfire activity across southern BC, southeastern MB, and western ON...as well as the Dixie Fire in northern CA, are to blame for the thickest smoke this morning. DUST: Caribbean and Atlantic... Saharan Dust was observed covering much of the tropical Atlantic, the eastern half of the Caribbean Sea, and the Sargasso Sea, with the northern extent near Bermuda. A new and thicker area of Saharan Dust was seen extending of the West African coast. Hosley THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
