SMOKE: U.S./Canada/Atlantic/Pacific off the West Coast... Wildfires in the western U.S. and southwestern Canada continued to burn overnight and today and were responsible for a large area of smoke seen across significant portions of the U.S. and Canada as well as off the US West Coast. Dense smoke primarily from the wildfires in the western U.S. stretched eastward across sections from central/northern California into most of Nevada into southeast Idaho, most of Utah and across most of Wyoming and northeast Colorado and beginning to stretch into far western South Dakota. The most dense area of smoke extends across northern Utah and into western and central sections of Wyoming. Lighter smoke extends across most of the Pacific Northwest and eastward across northern and central Plains and reaching into Wisconsin and well into Iowa. Smoke stretches northward into southern Alberta and British Columbia and central Saskatchewan, and central and southern Manitoba and Quebec. Smoke also stretches off the California coast and thickness difficult to confirm due to met clouds. Another area of dense smoke stretches from the Mid-Atlantic/Ohio Valley northward across the eastern section of the Great Lakes and across southeast Quebec and into sections of Ontario and far eastern Northeast Canada. Alaska/Canada/Western U.S. ... Thin density smoke was seen spreading to the east and across the northern Territories and to the east coast of Canada. Smoke is most likely from fires burning in Siberia.
