DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY

SMOKE: Western United States…. An areas of smoke were visible from wildfire activity over Idaho, Montana, Washington, California and Oregon. Smoke from California and Oregon was extending through central and northern California into southern Oregon and then extending northeast into northern Nevada and southern Oregon. Within this area of smoke, moderate to heavy density smoke was seen mostly near the source fires throughout the area. East Coast of the United States to Southeast Canada…. A large area of smoke from the wildfires in the western United States was extending from portions of South Carolina and North Carolina, extending northeast up the East Coast of the United States and into southeastern Canada. Within this area of smoke, an area of moderate to high density smoke was seen along coastal portions of New England and southeastern Canada and then extending southwest into the Northwest Atlantic Ocean. Central and Southwestern United States…. An area of mostly light density smoke from the western United States fires extended over much of the Northern, Central and Southern Plains states and then west into the portions of New Mexico, Arizona and northern Mexico. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
