DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0113Z October 7, 2021
SMOKE: Western U.S./Northern Rockies, Canada... Observed through moderate cloud cover over the lower 48 and Canada a thin to heavy density plume sourced from wildfires over central California was detected covering central California and continues through northwestern and north-central U.S. where the smoke continues north where it combines with light to heavy density smoke sourced from wildfires over south-central Canada and extending from Nova Scotia northwest through parts of Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Saskatchewan, the Hudson Bay, and extends off the coasts over the Pacific just off California and over the Atlantic just south of the northeast U.S. and eastern Canada. Heavier smoke was seen in areas around the source fires. DUST: Caribbean... An area of thin density Saharan dust visible through cloud cover reaching as far as the central Caribbean sea. Eglin THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
