DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 2000Z October 11, 2021
SMOKE: U.S./Eastern Canada... A detached thin density plume leftover from wildfires in south-central Canada was found over the Canadian Maritime provinces. A second detached thin density plumes was detected over southern Ontario, eastern Michigan, northern Ohio, and western Pennsylvania/New York. South-Central Canada... A wildfire complex over east-central Saskatchewan was spreading a thin density plume northeastward to northern Manitoba. Within 100 miles of this wildfire complex, moderate to heavy density smoke was detected. DUST: California... Blowing dust could be seen forming along the San Joaquin Valley and the western Mojave Desert. The dust was dispersing predominantly toward the southeast. Atlantic... A thin density plume of Saharan dust was detected over the southwestern Atlantic between Bermuda and the Bahamas. WS THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
