DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1815Z October 13, 2021
SMOKE: California and the Baja… The Alisal Fire over coastal southwestern California continued to burn and was producing an area of smoke that was extending southeast offshore coastal southern California and into the northern Baja. Within this area of smoke, moderate to high density smoke plume was extending from coastal southwest California southeast to offshore coastal southern California. DUST: New Mexico/Northern Mexico... Some blowing dust was seen across southeastern New Mexico and northern Mexico which was moving to the northeast. Atlantic... A large area of Saharan dust was covering much of the central and eastern Tropical Atlantic Ocean. The dust extended west to near the eastern Caribbean Islands and then further northwest to portions of the southwest Atlantic Ocean. YL THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE. TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS. AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE ALSO DESCRIBED.
